Testaccio: The heart of Rome and Italy's Oldest Open Air Market

Testaccio is near and dear to my own heart, since its the neighborhood where my mom's family is from, and where many of them still reside. I grew up visiting family here and passing time in their various stores, restaurants, pastry shops.

Romans hardly move out of their 'hood, and Testaccio is testament to that. The market (Nuovo Mercato Testaccio) is world famous and the oldest in Italy. Restaurants and trattorie are everywhere and they are all well worth the stop. Locals and tourists alike, mingle in the streets, shop the food market and enjoy the history and archaeology.

Come with me on a Divora Roma voyage so I can personally take you on a behind the scenes trip through the heart of Rome, in my old family neighborhood of Testaccio. My family and friends await our arrival and are eager to show you what typical Roman cuisine is all about!
